When it comes to 3rd party Internet TV software products/services and researching them to find the best of the lot, no one said it would be easy. There are hundreds of them if not thousands, both free and paid, scattered across the Internet.
Not only that, many of these products seem to mirror one another which makes tossing a coin in the air to choose one seem like the best way to go. So where do you start, what to look for, and what sources are out there that can be relied on to give accurate (unbiased) information?
The first step is to get a good handle on all the different brand names that either use or don’t use the term ’Satellite‘. This in itself is pretty confusing to anyone new to these products/services.
One might think, an Internet TV software such as, Satellite TV for PC, Satellite Direct, and others allow illegal access to paid TV channels when in fact they don’t. Nevertheless, they do leave that impression from the way they are advertised.
There are totally free Internet TV software (or whatever name applies) that have very little to no value at all, and yet people download them all the time.
Whether free or paid, these software products/services offer a 3rd party TV player (not a ‘standalone‘) that rely on ’standalone’ media players such as RealPlayer, WMP, Quicktime Player, and other clients, in order an Internet TV software to work on a computer.
So what this all boils down to is that you have several choices to choose from when setting up a computer Internet TV system:
1. Download free TV software (freeware)
2. Download paid TV software (more value)
3. Search for TV websites and download their free clients
4. Use a non-software service to watch Internet TV (more reliable)
Of course there are other options out there to watch channels over the Internet, but the four mentioned above relates to Internet TV software and non-software services only.
One way to research Internet TV software products online is to find good product reviews. Specifically the ones where the reviewer actually tested the product/service and takes an unbiased approach to revealing pros and cons, including benefits. But then again, these type of reviews seem hard to find when it comes to these type of products/services.
